For Jack

The room is silent, no creaks or squeaks,
Just the measure tick tick tick.

 A clock,

 A constant reminder,

'Time is passing, time is passing',
A second,  a second
Drifting  Past,

The endless end of time,
A second gone by,
Another and yet another,
Tick tick tick.

Time
time time,
What have you done
What did you do
Where did you spend it
The time,

The Days
The Weeks
The  Months.

Tick tick tick
Wisely, wasted
Worn away
Time time time.

Moments  measured,
Sixty seconds
Forward
Back
What have you done with it, Jack
Give it back
Get it back
Save some for the sack.

Waste not, want not
Yick Yick Yick
Tick Tick Tick
Pick, Pack, Puck.

Work for it
Let it work for you
Choose wisely
Whatever you do.

It wont come back
You cant get it back
Tick Tick Tick,
Gone Gone Gone
It will never come back
What have you done with it Jack.

Sensory Overload

How many planes have you heard over your head today
How many automobile horns and motors did you hear today
Did the sounds of  police sirens. ambulances and fire engines fill your ears today
What of the dogs barking
The babies crying
The trains screeching to a halt
How about the music blaring from storefront speakers
And then the helicopter from the news stations
The school bells ringing the change of classes, and the church bells tolling the hours, quarter hours, and half past
The mother yelling at her kid to shut up
The televisions selling everything and nothing
The heating systems rolling warmth
The eateries exhaust motors
Those noisy generators that turn on the lights
The police whistle that says stop and go
The drunk singing a song with unknown words
The weird one shouting the end of the world
A cat hissing preparing for attack
The other who always chants for us to repent
The vibration and drone of the jackhammer
The hiss of the steam through the street vents
A motorcycle with a pseudo muffler
The refrigerator engine
The washing machine
The dryer
The dishwasher
The doorbell
The telephone
The alarm clock
The sound of running water
The coffee pot hissing
How many engines have you heard today
How many machines have droned your ears to dullness
And your nerves to fray
To be happy to close your eyes to sleep
To wake from a dream with the sound of the garbage collection crew complaining about working while we no longer sleep

hillary and donald

Can she say, "That depends upon what your definition of Classified is?" Obviously Americans are loathe to prosecute a Former First Lady for any offense, and she will probably get away with here elitist rule of life, that she is entitled and deemed worthy of anything she chooses without earning any merit. And there are some females who are so wanting a woman president in their lifetime they will vote for anyone, whether or not they have the qualifications.

Benghazi is something she dismissed with, "the fog of war". But if her first interaction with war has her overcome with fog, how will she lead in other battles. How will she protect our troops.

Her honesty is not in question, we all have heard her vague non committal responses, with the look on her face noting that she hoodwinked another group of people into agreeing with what she has said when in fact she has said nothing.

For someone who has no accomplishments under her belt besides getting jobs that seem more like positions acquired through nepotism.

As a good democrat she is promising spending money we do not have to benefit those in need, with no plan for where the funds will come from.

The Republican front runner is a new face to the race for the White House, with gruff, aggressive behavior, with insults abounding. In his case you know his appetite for acquiring things and you must decide whether or not he is bucking for the job to improve the American condition or to advance his advantages, improving his conditions in life. We know our Representatives are far more financially well off after serving the people than  they were before their employment. Thinking about all the possibilities for his deal making.

So far all the deals he had made have been to his advantage, and not necessarily others, i,e. creditors who lost their investments when his companies declared bankruptcy.

We mostly hear him insulting people, or praising himself.

Today he says he is refusing to participate in the upcoming debates because he has been insulted by the head of fox, and he does not like one of the moderators.

This guy is applying for a job, and the interview process is a standard operating procedure. What he in fact is saying to the people is hire me without me presenting myself for approval. You all know me. He is looking for the job without having any competition.

Have you heard him discuss anything, has there ever been a communication without mention of negative comments of the competition, or how great he is, or how stupid are those running the government. Often he simply rants and raves about how much money we owe, a lot of money. And that he will fix it, shall he file bankruptcy for America to fix it all?

He also wants to build a fence and export illegals. For decades we in America have tolerated corporations hiring illegal aliens as cheap labor, it has been discussed for years, and we all have participated in purchasing goods such as farm products that have been picked or harvested by illegal aliens and we have closed our eyes, and the government has allowed the practice to continue. Now everyone who will not benefit from their living in the USA wants them out. These people and their offspring should in fact be permitted to remain, should be documented and pay taxes. This idea of having them pay back taxes is absurd. They ought have work permits and be given the opportunity to study to become citizens. The have been workers, earning for their families doing jobs Americans do not want to do. Shame on us that we now want to throw them out.

Neither of these candidates have the qualifications to lead this nation to progress. There will be no emotional growth to enhance our futures, we will continue to slide into the dark ages.

The most important issue for Americans is education., ignorance our enemy.

We can fight isis with education, knowledge is what they are lacking, they do not know any thing but their religion. If we Americans show them the benefits of education, nothing will stop us. Education is a good job, sending people to school is better than sending them to war. Giving America to expand intellectually is the only way America will grow to greatness.

But the problem is: the media and the government have spread a breath of fear that has infected the population. Unemployment has furthered the epidemic, and both candidates are hoping we are so frightened that they will get us to choose an emotional response as opposed to an educated thinking mind to choose a leader. There is an air of crowd psychology that is growing into a mob, sad for us, we are going backwards when we ought choose forward.

Tennis Anyone

Can anyone explain why the tennis association tolerates the grunting professionals. Is it something totally necessary for tennis players to grunt and groan with every swing. Why, or are there any other so called professionals that vocalize their use of energy. And why do the fans tolerate such behavior, are they all deaf. Yes, it is a strategy to unnerve the opponent, to glean an advantage, but it is in such poor taste. Do they ever watch and listen to themselves, can they be proud of their behavior. Even football players do not  sound as foul. The sport has diminished since the likes of Maria Sharapova and the other Russian named players have appeared, as well as the men including Novak, too bad the fans and association tolerate such unprofessional behavior. The fans ought be insulted that they have to be subjected to the sounds of pigs squealing. Those contrived outbursts are more objectionable than that Spanish guy always playing with his butt. The tennis association ought to have a code of ethics for unprofessional  behavior, the player should be fined for demeaning the sport, lowering the standard, insulting the fans - perhaps even noise pollution. It they can fine Serena for her language why not the rest for poor sportsmanship. It would return the game to an enjoyable sport.

Ms Miss Mrs...

...gals, ladies, women - whichever title you choose: are you ready? Have you thought about the possibility that isil will invade your land returning us to the thirteenth century. Have you thought about the impact their occupation will do to the rights of women. Are you ready for the return to a life of ignorance without the freedoms of domination. Have you considered what actions you wish to enact to preserve your way of life, or are you just waiting for the men to fight for your rights.

Will you consider a shift in economic opportunity to a life so basic that the time will be spent scrounging for basic necessities. Can you live being covered from head to toe in black. Are you willing to take orders upon pain of death without the right of discussion.

Can you take the time to think about what is worth fighting for, as a woman. What freedoms are you willing to give up. Have you thought about how to protect yourself from an unseen enemy.

Women, what say you, have you taken the steps to protect the rights other women have fought for, for you to enjoy. Think about it now.

The dark ages is a time of ignorance, do you want to live there, do you want your children to exist in an age of fear of the unknown with little chance to learn about the world, the stars, music, art. Will you be satisfied without beauty. Can your eyes forget the sights that enthralled as it gazes into the black world. Can you live without the beauty that has surrounded your days, are you willing to live without, the comforts of the mechanized environment. Will you dream of the knowledge stored on the internet as an unattainable dream as they did before the invention of the printing press.

Are you ready for a mindset of the dark ages where thought is not rewarded, where thought is discouraged, where freedom and independence is the rights of man - with nothing for women.

What is the price you are willing to pay to know tomorrow will be better than today, how much will you sacrifice to be sure that the women who arrive after you have the chances you have or the learning you have or the freedom you have - or will you allow their lives to be prisons of ignorance and domination.

It is now, the time for you to consider your choices and what your future shall be, and theirs. Please do not squander the time in daydreams, assess  you skills and adapt your knowledge to protect what you hold dear, for soon it may not be here.

Not Just Oregon/Umpqua

Every political person running for office is jumping on the bandwagon looking for someone to blame for the violence and mass shootings. And of course their statements are as outlandish as saying that the flooding in South Carolina is because they rehung the Confederate Flag at the capital.

No one is willing to take responsibility for the false statements made by government agencies, senators, representatives, advertising, manufacturing, law enforcement, religious leaders and everyone else who has access to the public media.

The people are tired of being betrayed by all the lies, like HAL, the computer in the movie 2001, the people are revolting. The betrayal is so widespread there is difficulty for some to address any particular individual.

The chaos caused by false statements is a whiplash effect, a fierce rapid explosion of anger and rage.

There is no one to trust, nothing to put faith in, no leader to follow. The president misspeaks with a smile on his face, a democratic candidate running for president repeatedly claims innocence for wrongdoing with breaches of national security.

Corporations in every industry manufacture shoddy products that do not live up to their advertising claims, nor give value for the dollars spent.

The do not call list for privacy in the home does not apply to political parties, or charities, just because you do not want to be disturbed is no reason for them not to call you to beg for your support and money.

There is a 'news' channel on cable that claims to be fair and balanced while being skewed to the right and easy to judge any actions done by the left as detrimental to the American People, while lauding the efforts of the right wing religious community.

A Republican who is running for President demeans women, insults opponents and brags about all the jobs he has created, stating that he never filed for bankruptcy yet is the CEO of three companies which did file. Praising all the money he has made without acknowledging all the creditors who lost money by these defaults. It is not the idea that filing bankruptcy is an evil it is often a fact of doing business, but saying he never filed is an untruth that corrupts the American Language, as they guy who did not have sexual relations with 'that woman'. Depending upon what your definition of IS, is.

There is a cable channel that brags to viewers that there is never any advertising on the channel, while they try to sell you, copies of movies they own, and subscriptions to programming they produce. Is there something  with the definition of Advertising that the dictionary does not cover. Is not selling, advertising.

Some of the Religions are being forceful in their dogma demanding that their laws be applied to all, whether or not they believe or follow those laws. Religion is demanding that Government follow its rules. Christians want their crosses and ten commandments in prominence and Mosques to disappear. Some Religions claim their laws are the real true words from a god they say exists because their founders say it is true. how can they all have the right Religion when the laws they follow are not the same, and they claim there is only one god. If you will notice, all these Religions have been started by men, and they end their prayers(which are entreaties to their gods to show favor upon them, for a baseball game, to games of chance, and sunshine for their annual picnic) and they end their entreaties in praise of men, AMEN, with no mention of AWOMEN. And all these institutions in America receive financial aid in the form of no taxation.

Charities too, can not be left out of this gigantic equation, they beg for money and when they do receive a stipend from some generous individual they repay their kindness by selling the donors information to other charities to bombard the mailboxes to beg for alms.

And the all favorite, "your call is important to us......", if it were so, someone would answer the phone. Option One, you bought the product we sold, too bad for you it does not work. Option two, "someone will be with you shortly..." so while you are holding on have your lunch and dinner, might as well take a nap. Option three, "visit us online for quick answers to common questions..." We made something right away to sell, but we never bothered to have any quality control measures in place because we want to take your money right away and we don't care if it takes us six months or more to give you some satisfaction. By the way, we no longer make any of our products on U.S. soil because we can avoid all the workplace safety laws made in America because we don't care about any third world worker citizens who die in workplace fires or explosions since we buy their products for pennies and sell them to Americans for dollars and we lock in a hefty profit.

But no, it is the fault of females who have abortions that these people decide to kill in frustration and anger, it is not the fault of the man in this meeting, it is her fault because she is showing little interest in human life, and the single female household, cool, for this election they can not play the race card so instead let's play the gender card. Real wages buying power has nothing to do with it. We are returning to the everyone in the household must work for families to survive so we can complain about non parental supervision. And of course big government has no culpability in this either, big brother is taking care of us by making rules and regulations that must have paperwork filed to prove compliance. This consumer driven economy is no longer in existence, it is big Government, and, big Corporations, remember the Tennessee Ernie Ford song, 'Sixteen Tons', Saint Peter don't you call me cause I can't come, I owe my soul to the company store, or is it the Insurance company.

And of course, no of these individuals at any of these institutions are ever held accountable for any wrongdoing, companies get fined for wrong doing and the money goes to the government, the consumer never is reimbursed in these lawsuits, or eminent domain takes from the consumer for the common good of the corporations and government.

Yet it is the shooters fault for this breach of etiquette, the shooter is responsible for some self control, the shooter is crazy, youbetyourlifetheshooteriscrazy, along with a lot of other  citizens who have been betrayed by the lies that are not really lies depending upon your definition of the word, lie.

And like HAL, we are reacting with a burst of violence, like the dams in South Carolina, the bounty of lies is producing a mutiny, and nobody really cares as long as they are not in the flood plane, it is just business as usual.

SOLUTIONS FOR AMERICA, aka, how to fix the system

Although the immigrant population in America is an uncounted group, there is an estimate of eleven million people undocumented, the shadow people whom we are told, some of which have been here for more than ten years, or is it, twenty-five, no matter, these persons have been employed by someone.

Many of us remember years ago, the complaints of these low wage earners not paying taxes, this same argument is heard today. Talk of deporting them, forgiving them, and including them is loud now with the election candidates speaking forcefully about their ideas, some think they can collect back taxes as a way to amnesty.

While it is easy to dream of all the back taxes they have not paid and how those sums will reduce the debt it is just folly.

Punishment for breaking the law is another demand by some, who so easily forget all the corporations and individuals who hired this cheap labor and those who bought the products produced by the same, including government officials, who have sworn to uphold the law. But, nay, not punish them, just the people living, barely existing. Paraphrasing a quote from Lady Chatterely's lover,  "after the fair, the masters beat the slaves, the slaves beat the cattle, and the cattle went into the field to cry."

If there is anyone serious about resolving this situation here is a possible solution:

Allow all these persons who have been living and working in the USA as illegal immigrants, to come forward and present proof of domicile and employment. Finger print these persons and verify that there have been no legal issues about them. Give them employment permits and add them to the tax roles. Anyone falsifying documents will be deported immediately. And if they choose they may begin the process of applying for citizenship. They will have the  opportunity to begin new lives as new members of the American community, instead of criminals.

This is not amnesty, we all are responsible for this situation, we all have allowed and taken advantage of their circumstances, we are now stating that it is time to wash the slate clean for all of us and begin anew as neighbors.

This move to acknowledge these persons is the time to revamp the tax code. If ten percent of this population is wage earning that would add more than one million to the tax roles, enough to offset a reduction in the tax rate, at the same time reducing the need for some government employees, by reducing the complexity or complications of paying taxes. Or, it will be a temporary shift in employment from tax collectors to registrars for employment permits.

Once these tax collector roles have been reduced there is ample work for all rebuilding American infrastructure as FDR employed during his administration.

Corporate tax should be eliminated from the Federal level, or all together. The consumer is the entity that eventually pays the tax anyway. Corporations make products to be sold in our Consumer Driven Economy, the consumer is the wage earner who spends dollars fueling the economic health of the nation. But first this wage earner pays an income tax and gives the government a share of their earnings, then the go to the store and pay a sales tax to the government, further sharing their income with the government, then the company that manufactures the product the consumer buys pays corporate tax to the government but increases the cost of the product they manufacture and sell to the wage earner, here alone is a triple tax on a wage earners income.

To further erode the income of the wage earner, corporations sell inferior products which immediately need repair or are beyond repair. For example: the new car the wage earner purchased has three factory recalls within the first year of ownership. These recalls either cost the wage earner, vacation time, wages, or the use of the vehicle altogether. Or the laptop that must be returned in the first month because of repeated overheating. The pressure washer that leaks, the tool that breaks first time it is used. The clothing that disintegrates after first washing. The oven, not ten years old needing repair but the company no longer makes the part, so the wage earner needs to buy a new oven. The lawn mower with a brake handle made from plastic, which of course will not last as long as the machine, but now can only be driven on flat ground. How about the latest software, when downloaded is, neither supported by the computer manufacturer and must be un-installed and an old version reinstalled but the software manufacturer has also deleted all supporting software by other vendors and must be reloaded also, and all the wage earners individual settings have been deleted and must be reestablished. And when you call the vendor or try to contact them on their website they are experiencing heavy volume.
More of the wage earners time is being expended with no recompense. There is no longer a quality control department in these companies or if there is they are all sleeping. Make anything to sell is the corporate mantra, false advertising will help us get rid of this junk. But corporations beware, the wage earner will again vote with their dollars and some of you will be looking for jobs. And if you want to avoid that predicament consider making a quality product and reduce your income until that goal is achieved. There is no longer the economies of scale if the scarce resources are being squandered enmasse producing unusable products.

Next is medical insurance, mandatory for all except congress. The simplest way to fix this mess is to have congress, including, the president and justices, all become enrolled in the same system as the rest of us and then we will see change.

About Planned Parenthood or Abortion: If the Government of these United States is adamant about forcing fetuses to be bred in hostile environments (the female who has used faulty birth control products or methods or erred in cycle calculations and becomes pregnant and does not want to reproduce) then the government should in all fairness bare the burden of supporting this female and issue. The government should be responsible for the education, shelter, food and clothing until this issue becomes self supporting. The woman forced into breeding against her will should also be compensated by the government for her time and inconvenience at a rate more than double the hourly wage for the twenty-four hour work day until the issue is no longer in her charge, since she is being forcibly imprisoned in her own body.

Finally, marriage. Since roughly fifty percent of all marriages end in divorce, why would anyone want to deny two persons from trying their luck at this sacred institution. Probably because some do not want others to share in the economic advantages. What would happen if there were no economic advantages to being married. If two people want to commit to each other let them, and if they want to love and cherish some other marriages throw away baby, why not let them. Unwanted children have needs beyond the norm. From being rejected in the womb to being unwanted in the home, the sociopaths of the future, why not let these person who want to commit to each other have the opportunity to reverse the rejection and hopefully raise healthy members of society. In the old days, marriage was a way for fathers to get rid of their unwanted daughters, household burdens. When two people commit to each other there is the potential for happiness and the more happiness there is in this world the more cooperation in using all the scarce resources to benefit the population of the planet.

And since the world is overpopulated with unemployed there is only one course if these errors are not corrected, WWIII is in the wings, consider this, if all the unemployed had jobs, would they be still willing to go to war, if they had the opportunity for economic advancement would they still be willing to blow themselves up and others with them.

Baltimore Baseball

So, baseball's bosses have made a large error today. Instead of postponing the game scheduled today at Baltimore they will play without the fans in the bleachers. They have penalized all the fans who have tickets and made plans like taking a day off from work, because they are afraid, but not enough fear to cancel the game.

The Symphony is giving a free concert for the people of Baltimore, hooray for you folks, that is a great way to fight fire with fire. Smart too, some soothing music to quell the anger, Thank you.

Back to baseball. It is the fans who pay to build the field, it is the fans who pay to watch the players, and it is the fans who buy all the jerseys, hats, tee shirts and jackets.

So why did the team not go to the area and spend time with the people with those who spend their time and money making them richer. Why didn't other teams come to Baltimore and spend time with the people of Baltimore.

Why didn't baseball do something special for the City of Baltimore. Like maybe make the game free. There is enough strife and baseball added to the more.

Baseball is supposedly America's greatest game but it seems only to be filled with America's greatest chickens.

Pockets

The Farmer returned home with three tiny baby squirrels tucked in his shirt pocket, up near his heart. The squirrels had fallen from their nest in a tree. The Farmer and his wife, gave them some milk and put them in a box with a blanket in the basement. The squirrels did not survive.

A Bartender came home after work one evening with a puppy in his raincoat pocket, a gift for his son. The Bartender's wife would not let them keep the puppy.

After her mother had died, her Daughter put her mother's ashes in her jacket pocket and sprinkled some of the ashes at her mothers favorite places around town.

thirty six minutes

Stay off the ropes. Watch your opponents eyes, never take your eyes off their eyes. Don't back up. Keep your feet moving. If you keep your legs too far apart you will lose your balance. Stay loose. Keep your gloves up, protect yourself, move fast. Cover up. Stay out of the corner. Use combinations, watch their eyes. Don't hit below the belt. No head butts. Listen to the ref. Breathe. Pay attention. Sometimes move to the left, then switch to the right. No holding. Look with daggers in your eyes. Jab, pull the fist back quickly, then forward quickly, before they blink, do it again, and again if you get the chance. Protect yourself.

Bend your knees, dance, listen for the bell. No holding. Remember what you learned. Protect your face, protect your chest. Look for patterns. Aim for the liver, they will be paralyzed long enough for you to get the advantage if you strike the liver. Breathe. Take it easy, pace yourself, don't move to fast to tire yourself. Look for an opening, take the shot.

If you got a chance to knock them down, take it. Keep looking in their eyes, it will tell you what you need to know, see that look, he's looking for an advantage, don't give it to him. Watch yourself. Punch, left right combinations, look for an opening. Work the kidneys. Tire him, confuse him. If you hit the ears he'll get dizzy.

Remember, you must stay up for thirty six minutes and land as many punches as you can. A knockout would be great, show them what you can do.

Dear Diary 12.21.13

The year is just about finished yet the entrails of unhappiness lingers. Countless millions are unemployed, the economy is stalled into the wilderness among the brush and dust of the withered plants of unfulfilled dreams.

Those who have the power to change the circumstances have no idea which way to turn, they are frozen by their ignorance or indifference, perhaps by their self serving advisers. Nothing is being done, the stagnant waters swell with the decay. The mold and mildew seething into a sauce of dissatisfaction boiling over into the frost of days without sun.

To distract the dissatisfied hungry idle the illegal immigrant society in America is being singled as a problem needing current attention. Finally eleven and a half million illegal people who came here looking for ...? whatever? are getting the eyes of the government on them. Uncle Sam is trying to find a way to assimilate them into the mainstream of America. One condition for their 'legal' status being discussed is to have them pay back taxes.

There is not a word mentioned regarding the corporations, companies and people who employed these 'illegals', no mention of any possible penalty for those who gave these foreigners a reason to come here. No mention of the negligence of the government for not addressing the issue when they were 'only' one million illegals. No one did anything, those who were aware of the influx closed their eyes, looked the other way or were bought into blindness. Yet, there is no dialog as to what punishment should befall them. They who caused this abundance of cheap labor producing windfall profits for companies who never reduced prices or paid fair wages for their services. Why are they not being discussed anywhere. Why are these companies not being investigated, brought to trial, if not in a courthouse how about the court of public opinion.

Today it is winter, although the cooler temperatures have already set up shop around the country, the chill in the air is breathing a frost on compassion, causing strife before winter, and still, millions are unemployed, millions are illegal. How can the nation weather this storm of discontent.

Corporate employees as well as government personnel seem to be exempt from accountability, their wrongdoing is nonpunishable, except in the case of misuse of funds. Some corporations are penalized for wrongdoing by paying fines which are never received by those who have been wronged, instead the bounty is recouped by legal fees and the government. These monies go to the government but never seem to trickle down to benefit the governed. Politicians who were poor when first elected to public service are millionaires upon their retirement.

Originally, America was a consumer driven economy, the consumer, you and me, would vote with our hard earned dollars where to spend our money and what to purchase. It seems this is no longer the American way, competition is being or has been choked by 'the economies of scale', large businesses who can buy goods in bulk at much cheaper prices than the 'mom and pop business' drive smaller competition from the marketplace. We no longer have local eateries, or variety stores run by families. Every city has the same clothiers or mercantile with facades that look like warehouses, no windows for browsing or investigating to choose whether or not to walk in, you must walk in to see what is being offered and because there is no competition theirs is your only choice, No longer are products advertised with integrity, no longer are goods expected to perform as advertised. You got what they got and if you don't like it you do without. Ah, yes, the prices are cheap, goods produced in countries which have never seen 'one of those' have no idea how they are supposed to work, or why someone would buy one. Eateries are all the same, every town visited has one of each of the fastest saltiest food, again putting mom and pop into retirement. For persons with limited income there is no choice, no competition, these monopolies are the new face of America along the roads that are so large they divide communities making a walk across the street impossible. When you call a company you no longer speak to a person, you answer to a computer, over and over again, trying to make yourself clear, heard or understood.

Integrity, an unknown word at the end of twenty thirteen, making the best is no longer a mantra, making more and more is what matters. Call someone about your charge account and the computer you reach will only answer select questions, all other inquiries must be addressed at their website, where you send a message and wait and see if you get an answer.

Medical insurers are also trying to monopolize their business. Last year they tried to put locally owned pharmacies out of business by offer cheaper prescriptions through their owned mail order pharmacies or mega shops like Walgreen or Walmart.

Democrats and Republicans alike, have stalemated the nation by refusing to compromise. The President misspoke about his health care, repeatedly, and then the all important roll out failed. Maybe we ought change our name to 'Murphyland' everything that can go wrong does. It is for us to decide is this incompetence, indifference, negligence, fraud or simply laziness.

Reducing government at this time will increase the unemployment rate to catastrophic proportions since manufacturing is obsolete on these shores. Education ineffective, which is a nice way of saying our children are falling on their scale of competitiveness in the world arena.

Since we are already over our heads in debt, investing a little more in educating the unemployed is probably money well spent. Overcoming ignorance may get us some individuals who have some good ideas to turn around our boom bust economy hopefully preventing another greater depression. But already the seeds of the newest world war are being sown. China wants the water and islands close to them as their territory, they are increasing their military, probably because there is a slow down in economic production for them also, and they must find something for their millions of millions of young people to do to earn an income, so why not get them ready to dominate the world.

Fast food and television is probably making our kids crazier than they have to be. Ever sit in front of the television to watch a program to be bombarded by commercial after commercial selling stuff by persons yelling and screaming, a good way to agitate any age, younger persons full of energy just explode and have no way to expend that energy. Their parents work more than one job, with little time to spend nurturing their offspring, not even the energy to cook a meal. So what is left, a bunch of baby boomers retiring on social security with their medical issues in hand, but the separation of the masses continues to isolate every individual into striving alone in this 'sea of troubles'.

CHOOSE ...

(not just for k)

...to be happy
a better life for yourself
love
laughter
giggles
all that brings you peace
and well being

...to throw away misery
melancholy
meanness
resentment
regret
unhappiness

whether poor or rich
choose for yourself

to keep a smile on your face
the warm glow knowing that you are loved

live well
spend your time wisely
do not waste your time
'tis all you have
find the fastest easiest way to get a job done
so there is more time to do those things
that you would rather choose to do
than have to do

give yourself
a gift
acknowledge accomplishments
reward success

be kind to yourself
treat yourself well
take really good care of yourself

acquire good habits
always do your best

do not spend your time teaching yourself to be sloppy
always do your best
it will then become your second nature

poGo patrons

If you have ever played games at the site you know it is a little bit quirky.  If you play a card gave with robots you will notice they are programmed to be a better partner to the opponent than to the side they are on, or they do not pick up cards their side needs. That's ok, it is not a chess match, and if you want to practice and there is no one to play with, the bots will help you think better about yourself.

The site has many games to sharpen the brains that have grown a little dull, as with age, so good problem solving and fun games too. They are not, the card games it is, random, as probably are the other games also. Most of the time, you are the winner, the reward is virtual currency to be used at their virtual store or virtual badges of honor to further challenge personal competition. Sometimes they are fun, other times they are too many challenges to achieve within the scheduled time frame, simply redundantly boring.

Oh, and yes, you can chat with players at a small space while playing games. Most times players say hi and say where they are, Nova Scotia, Chicago etc. But you don't have to chat if you choose not to.

What is in fact an interesting note is the quality of the players. Some are very sharp and competitive. Others are down right rude, stopping playing a game to answer the phone, leaving the other players to wonder if the players screen is frozen, they do this without standing up at the table and letting the robot play their hand until they return. They give the brb (be right back abbreviation) and leave the other players hanging. Or they dilly around past the time expired waiting to get additional time to play.

Along with the rude players mentioned above the site has an extraordinary amount of bad sports - or it is a malaise of the times. If the bad sport is losing they just get up and leave in the middle of play -disappear into the sunset - without finishing the game, they give up and run away. And if they win, they flash one of the faces like the smiley sun, or dancing cactus, to gloat their success. These are the people who must win, who absolutely refuse to accept failure -which in life may be a good thing - who knows, but they ruin the experience or competition for all the others. Like 'I'm not playing unless I can be the chief'. For those of us who enjoy the challenge and appreciate a worthy opponent, when the bad sport begins to lose and drops the game, we are glad they leave. They remind us of the bad sport tennis players that go into their temper tantrums like little children, only there are proportionately more of them at this site, maybe it is really a magnet.

"They paved paradise..."

"I see a dead tire and a couch with a broken leg!"

"There's another bottle! And a big black plastic bag, wonder what's in it?"

"Ok kids, enough of that, why don't you go back to counting red cars?"

"Ooh! Look, there's a bottle."

 "OK". "OK."

"There's the sod company. I wonder how they put the dirt back on the ground after they cut out the patches of sod?" "That's a good question?"

"Number one. I saw the first red one!"

"Wow, look at all the new construction, you think they are making it six lanes?" "Looks like it." "Here too, wow, wonder what they are building?" "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot…." "Remember that song?" "Hmmm."

"You know, when we were watching that football game the other night, the college game where they were playing in the rain, on the field had the fake grass?" "Yeah." "Well, I was thinking, did you ever hear of a grass museum?" "Uh, no. Why?" I think it may be time for someone to make a grass or lawn museum. Soon the kids in the next generation will never know what grass is, they'll have to go to a museum to see it, like the petting zoo for animals, where they can go in and touch grass, to see what it feels like. Pretty soon there won't be any more real grass like blue grass or rye grass, it'll be cement and artificial turf." "Uh, maybe, hope not in our lifetime."

"Well, think about it, they are widening roadways, adding overpasses that move acres of rock and dirt. They drive right through towns and never make it a place to visit. Most of the new roads go straight somewhere bypassing everything in between. Remember, we would to take a ride and stop and visit towns as we drove along. We would notice local mom and pop shops with their own signature dĂ©cor, everything was different, some places had country curtains or colorful tablecloths.

We don't see anything of the towns anymore as we ride the road, all we see are highway arches in the distance. It is always the same thing. The same chains stores are everywhere with all the same facades. Everything the same, doesn't matter how many miles we travel, nothing new to look at.    Where ever we go we can get salty pizza, or burgers and fries. There are automotive supply chains, pharmacy chains, big retail chains, nothing different, no choice, nor variety. Soon it will all be uniforms, we'll all wear the same clothing, we'll all eat the same food, drive the same autos, fill up at the same chains. They call it the economies of scale, but I call it monopolies. Monopolies that are soooooo big they tell us what we want and what we can have. No longer is it a consumer driven economy but a mega corporate economy, a few big companies telling us what to choose and when to choose it. Remember in town there was the clothing store on Main Street, where we would walk and window shop? There is no such thing as window shopping any more. I miss that. I miss seeing what is offered without having to go into the store. I miss being outside in the fresh air looking to decide if I want to go into a place, if I like what they are offering. Now if I want something I have to walk into the store and walk all the way across the building to see if they have the color towels I want or what style shoes they carry.

I liked seeing the way people, those mom and pop people, decorated their businesses. I liked seeing their personalities. Now, it's just the same. All of the same. Yes, it took longer to get from A to B but there were things to see in between. All I see is cement and macadam. Besides that, now they have divided communities. It is difficult thing to walk across cross six lanes. They don't have stop lights. All you can do is drive there, from one side of the road to the other. People can't even cross the road to visit their neighbors.

Boy, talk about segregation and alienation. All in the name of progress. If you think I like it you are mistaken. And the sound of all that traffic moving faster, past homes and what is left of small businesses is probably dangerous, sucking in all those fumes every time they open their front door. Like that French movie we saw, where the family home was surrounded by fields and then a roadway was built right next to them and they had to wear gas masks to go outdoors, and they sealed up the whole house, all the windows, so the pollution wouldn't get in.

Remember that fast food place we stopped at yesterday for coffee?" "Yes." "Well right across the one lane street from it there is a house. Their front door opened to see the parking lot and all the cars that came and stopped and left and arrived and kept moving through and those big rigs, those monster trucks, the ones who never turn off their engines when they are stopped. And the gas station with the radio blasting over outdoor speakers, right across the street from somebody's home, I bet the homeowners can't even watch their own tv or read a book without hearing the radio across the street, all in the name of progress. "

"The more I think of it the more important that grass museum will be. Like the museums of the old west, a view of the bygone era. No grass, sad. No more listening to the noise from lawn mowers on Saturday mornings, maybe they ought to make a lawn mower museum too."

Something on our Minds (a book review)

What is life, living with MS, or caring for someone who is diagnosed with MS.

Is there someone in your life struggling with life after being diagnosed with MS.

Or are you just curious, to discover that these people are like everyone else, with the same hopes, dreams, fears and needs.

All will not, be revealed in this tome, it is a glimpse of life through the eyes and minds of more than thirty volunteers who in this labor of love, share their thoughts and experiences for the benefit of others. Their emotions , joys and sorrows the primal visceral feelings of collective man's journey as he walks through life and as travelling with an unwelcome companion.

Yet the flavor of the pages is a blend of chocolate and vanilla sprinkled with a hint of mint from the strength of the forest of the giant oak of optimism,  depression growth here too has shortened, melded with a dose of acceptance, a tolerance of mice and the value of nothing.

A heaviness of self pity is whitewashed with waves of knowledge, the backbone of the arsenal of weapons needed to cope with this still as yet unknown foe.

The Anthology is the brain child of Tracy A Todd as a way for people with MS, their friends and caregivers to raise funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, to continue their work to find a cause and cure for MS and to make available to everyone the resources and information the Society has funded and acquired about MS.

The group Ms Todd founded for the project: We Write For The Fight has given a great first volume  with contributions by more than thirty individuals.
The work of a second anthology has begun.

This is a true story

Two months after I found my partner(whom I adored) dead on the living room floor, I was financially forced to go back to work. Then I was freelance, no vacations, no benefits, no medical, just money.

I supervised the last face to face shareholder counter for Ma Bell (AT&T). We were helping the shareholders fill out the paperwork for their choices of new companies with the breakup of AT&T.

A portable counter was set up for us on the main floor of the AT&T corporate office building at Broadway in downtown New York City. Marble columns, marble floors and walls with glass windows looking out at Manhattan. It was a cold snowy February.

We let one of the women keep a bottle of perfume a Texan, dressed with cowboy belt boots, hat and tie, and suit jacket too. She reminded him of his fiancĂ©, who was a telephone operator, who died before they were married, a long time ago. He was maybe eighty if not  older.

To my station appeared a gentleman, about six feet four or five, thin and fair skinned.  He looked me in the eye and began to speak. "When I was in Buchenwald," he said, "there were ten thousand men. Of the ten thousand men they chose two hundred, and of the two hundred they chose twenty. I was one of the twenty, that they allowed to live."

Re: How long is awhile?

Dear Editor,

What is that putrid odor? Some say it is the smell of money, others know it is the rancid concentration of foul/fowl waste from the Tyson chicken barns on 52 Highway east of Cole Camp and those on Boeshenville Avenue off Highway W from 52 Highway.

November 30, 2012 I received an email from Jim Leis at Tyson's in Arkansas, in response to my complaint about the odors emanating from both operations. His email gave me the telephone number of Kevin Gibbs (660.827.8815) the Live Production Manager at the Sedalia facility.

December 12, 2012 Mr. Gibbs advised that it would take a while to remedy the issue.

A mile away from each facility the stench is still an affront to the sense of smell. These Tyson chicken barns are not good neighbors, and do not have consideration for the environment, or the residents of Benton County.

For those who choose to fight for Benton County, call Mr. Gibbs, send emails to Tyson in Arkansas, boycott Tyson brands and tell everyone you know how repulsed you are by the corporate negligence and irresponsibility to the impact on the quality of life they have negatively affected for the neighbors, homeowners and residents of Benton County. If you do not care about land values, air quality or smelling the roses, do nothing! If you believe that respecting your neighbor is in part, protecting their land values by maintaining your property thus aiding in maintaining stable prices, make the call, let your voice be heard, vote with your dollars and boycott Tyson products.  Let Benton County not be known as 'the stinking county in Missouri'. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Let's hold corporations accountable! Let's hold Tyson accountable!

How much is that chicken dinner costing?

MORE about the disease obese

In the 1940's we veiled our existence in a cloud of smoke. The 1950's was the celebration party. 1960's we did drugs to drown our ineffectiveness. 1970's brought purpose we worked hard at being a country. In the 1980's we began a painful transition, adapting and adjusting to reality . 1990 began with the anticipation of the twenties, the new millennium, waiting for the doomsday clock to hit 2000 and worrying about what computers would backfire our accounting records. AH! The twenties we welcomed with open arms, optimistic about new beginnings happy to make history and forge into the future.
THEN the twenties grew in age and everything began to go wrong even though we still had faith in tomorrow. We learned our faith was defective, we have been sold a bill of goods(false hope) and the walls of will begin to crumble. We see all our efforts for naught, our weary strength waning, our stamina shrinking, and the walls continue to crumble. Like the levees of Katrina, we have been defeated. We are saving our last burst of energy for emergencies and we walk in a stupor, numb to the pain, shielded from the slings and arrows, our fortunes dwindled, and those of us who do, we pray for the miracle, to reverse the arrows of 2013 to sling into the vein of gold.
